Georgia Runs Past Alabama 20-17 in Tuscaloosa

The Bulldogs piled up 206 rushing yards, and a late sack and a personal foul ended Alabama's comeback hopes.

No. 2 Georgia handed No. 6 Alabama its first loss of the season on Oct. 10, winning 20-17 at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Georgia ran for 206 yards even without leading rusher Nate Frazier. Dwight Phillips Jr. led the way with 120 yards, and Bo Walker added 69. Quarterback Gunner Stockton completed 18 of 22 passes for 249 yards and scored both Bulldog touchdowns, one through the air and one on the ground.

Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell completed 16 of 30 passes for 185 yards and a touchdown and ran for 41 yards.

The Final Minutes

Alabama's last drive stalled after officials did not call an apparent pass interference penalty on Georgia safety JK Bolden. On the next snap, Bolden sacked Russell and pushed the Tide out of field-goal range. A personal foul on Alabama cornerback Dijon Lee then allowed Georgia to run out the clock.

Receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams caught three passes for 39 yards but left the game twice, first with a left leg injury and later for a concussion evaluation.

It was Georgia's first regular-season win over Alabama since 2007 and only its third win in the last 11 meetings.
